What makes Cheaney shoes so special is the workforce of craftspeople and experienced shoemakers, many of whom were born and bred in Desborough, a small Northamptonshire town steeped in the tradition of fine shoemaking. Some have followed in the footsteps of their fathers and grandfathers in working for Cheaney, and thus the skills have been passed from generation to generation. Cheaney shoes are still to this day entirely made in Desborough, including the intricate process of clicking and closing, by people with a fierce pride in the heritage and tradition of the brand.
Cheaney source the finest available leathers in Europe. Colours and finishes are selected to complement the designs and at times to give freshness to an existing style or a new, sharp edge to reinvent a classic.
Our leather soles are either oak bark or vegetable tanned.
All materials used in Cheaney shoes, from thread to leather, are regularly inspected as part of our quality assurance programme.
